The NBA Draft just wrapped up, and whether you’re a basketball fan or not, it’s hard not to be inspired by the level of effort and drive these athletes put in. The odds of a high school basketball player making it to the NBA? A jaw-dropping 0.03%.

To put that into perspective: imagine a stadium packed with 100,000 people — like some of the largest college football arenas in the country — and only 30 of them get picked. That’s how rare it is. Incredible, right?

This year’s #1 overall pick was Cooper Flagg, a standout from Duke with deep basketball roots. His mother, a former high school star herself, instilled a powerful mindset in him from an early age: “If you’re the biggest in the gym, then you need to find a new gym.”

What a motto. She wasn’t just talking about size—she was talking about growth. About always pushing, always reaching, always chasing better.

It got me thinking…
What’s your gym?
Where have you grown comfortable?

We all have areas in our lives—personally, professionally, mentally, or physically—where we might be the “biggest in the room.” It’s easy to stay where things feel familiar. Like back in my YMCA days, where my slow-motion spin move somehow still got me a couple buckets. But let’s be honest: comfort rarely leads to growth.

Real growth happens when we challenge ourselves. When we seek out new “gyms” where we’re not the biggest fish in the pond. Where we’re stretched, inspired, humbled, and driven to rise to the occasion.

So here’s your friendly reminder this week:
👟 Step into a room where you're not the biggest.
💪 Push yourself into a challenge that excites and scares you just a little.
🌱 Grow into the next version of who you’re meant to be.

What’s one “new gym” you can walk into this week? I’d love to hear about it. Drop it in the comments or message me — let’s grow together.
